Come join us for this unique tour of William Dunkerley’s gourmet mushroom farm and FDA registered food processing facility. Formed in 2016 by Dunk’s love of nature, foraging and wild crafting, he currently produces between eight to twelve species of gourmet mushrooms. Afterwards, there will be time for shopping: Fresh or dried mushrooms, jerky, coffee, powders and salts, vegan patties, pot pies, maitake marinara sauce and more.

Spring is here and along with the warmer weather come BUGS! Yes, of course, ticks and mosquitoes have their place in our eco-system but we still want to avoid them as much as we can. Member Marie Somers will be teaching us about how to naturally repel ticks and mosquitoes using essential oils and DIY sprays. Members will be able to purchase products to make their own mosquito/tick repellents if interested.

Wellington Gardens is a family business owned by Christine and Mike. Take a stroll through the five greenhouses, showcasing thousands of varieties of annuals and a perennial area teeming with hardy, healthy plants. Along a woodland path, you'll see hundreds of shade garden plants. This nursery is described as a “secret oasis” with charming features like a fish pond, farm animals and even a big resident tortoise. Plants will be for sale after the tour.

Member Bernadette Caldwell opens her beautiful home and gardens for us. We'll stroll throughout her expansive property and enjoy many beautiful annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees, as well as a lovely vegetable garden. Afterwards, she will offer her expertise and guide us through the process of jewelry making, utilizing many natural products found on her property. And don’t miss a visit to her gift shop as she is a true local artisan.

Join us for a field trip to Chester Hollow Water Gardens, where we will get a tour of all the beautiful and unique ponds and water features - such as waterfalls and koi fish ponds - they have to offer. Discover the magical transformation of HGC's Newest Perennial Garden at Town Hall! Long-time members Cheryl Poussard and Darlene Snell have spearheaded a team that's dedicated hours of research and planning to the planting of more than one hundred unusual perennials at the new site—many of which are native to NH! Cheryl and Darlene will share their journey with us and offer us an insight into the reasons these unusual plants were chosen, how they were planted and how they will be maintained.

F- Word Farm in Dracut, MA was started out of a love for the environment and is an earth-centered farm that practices organic, no-till farming focused on building eco-systems and soil. Owner, Emily Makrez, is an educator on all things fermenting, farming and foraging related. We will learn how to forage for wild edibles (e.g. mushrooms, berries, greens, or even trees) via a slideshow and in person samples to see and feel. She will share with us what she does with these seasonal foraged plants, fermenting them into various products and how you can incorporate them into your food or drink. These foods contain “good for you” gut microbes.

Come join us for an informational program by Master Gardener Stacey Scaccia, who lectures for The UNH Speakers Bureau, on landscaping for birds. Stacey will share her expertise on how to enhance your existing garden by planting native perennials and unusual shrubs and trees to provide an inviting habitat not only for pollinators but also to invite multiple varieties of native birds.

Led by our Deck the Halls committee, we will meet to assemble wreaths, swags, and garlands and then head out to install them at some of the most prominent locations around Hampstead. We will use real greenery, holiday decor, and our creativity to help bring the vision of the team to life. Members can expect yummy treats, hot cocoa, and lots of holiday spirit as we Deck the Halls. Dress warmly and bring clippers for this fun, annual, indoor/outdoor event.
