Play our "Secret Garden Match Game" to see if you can identify another member's garden. We'll also be doing a book swap. If you have a garden-related book, bring it along.

Location: Chisholm Farm, Hampstead, NH
Topic: Local Maple Syrup

Learn how sap from maple trees is transformed into the delicious maple syrup and candies we all enjoy. Chisholm Farm has been producing maple syrup for over 38 years. In addition to their barrel-aged maple syrup, they have developed their own infused natural honey.

Topic: Victory Gardening by the Jolly Botanist

Stephen Hinsvark, owner of The Jolly Botanist in Derry, NH will be educating us on the history behind Victory gardens. Stephen will encourage us to plant our own garden, along with tips on how to get started. He will also be discussing the advantages of raised beds and how to construct them.

Topic:  The Timeless Tradition of Flower Arranging

Heidi Corson, horticulturist and owner of Down To Earth Garden and Gift Shop, Kingston, NH will instruct us on the basic techniques of transforming simple flowers into fabulous bouquets that we can create and enjoy in our own homes.

 

June 19, Wednesday                                                  Time: 6:30 pm (note early start time)

Location: Cindy Lanouette's Home, Hampstead, NH

Topic: Garden Tour & Club Meeting

Cindy Lanouette has graciously offered to host members at her home and take us on a tour of her garden. 

 

July 13, Saturday - Open to Public!                          Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location: Various gardens in the Hampstead area

Garden Tour

Tickets are $20.00 per person and available at the Hampstead Public Library starting June 24th. Tickets will also be available the day of the event.

We will have the opportunity to tour personal gardens and hard scapes in the Hampstead area. Cookies and light refreshments will be served at some garden sites. Hampstead Congregational Church will be selling box lunches and offering access to the restrooms.

Kari Allard is planning a 'Art and Bloom' show at the church as well!

Location: Hosta Amour, 3 Mercury Lane, Pelham NH
Topic: Heirloom Hosta
Almost every New England garden includes some Hostas. Cheryl Cravino, master gardener, has over 1000 varieties of Hosta as well as companion plants on her one-and-a-half acre property. From mini to mammoth, many of the Hostas have heirloom beginnings.

Location: Dawson's Liberty Acres Christmas Tree Tour, Haverhill, MA
Topic: An Old-Fashioned Christmas Tree Farm

The Dawson Family cultivate and tend to many Fraser, Balsam, Fir and Blue Spruce varieties. They will share their farming techniques and the care that is required to grow these wonderful, traditional Christmas trees. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. 

 

September 18, Wednesday                                        Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Hampstead Congregational Church, Hadley Hall
Topic: Holiday Bow and Wreath Making
We are fortunate to have talented HGC member Jessica Daley conduct a hands-on workshop. The club will provide materials with a variety of Thanksgiving and Christmas-themed ribbons to choose from. Barbara Kayyal will demonstrate how to construct grapevine and full green wreaths.

 

October 16, Wednesday                                         Time: 7:00 pm

Topic: Protecting Your Immune System 

Heather Peloquin, RN is a certified Nutrition Therapist, Holistic Autoimmune Nutrition Specialist, and Certified Lifestyle Educator. Heather is also a member of the Rockingham Herb Society. She will share some old-fashioned and time-honored natural alternatives to protect our immune systems during the cold winter months. Heather is the owner of Thyme Wellness and Herbs in Chester, NH.

 

November 16, Saturday                                       Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Location: Hampstead Meeting House
Topic: Deck the Halls
“All hands on deck” as we gather to make and hang holiday decorations around the town based on the creative design from the Deck the Halls Club members will assemble the decorations, then hang them outside. Dress warmly for this fun indoor/outdoor event.

 

December 7, Saturday                                          Time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Location:  Home of Linda Roth, Danville NH

Let's toast to a wonderful year and celebrate all our club has accomplished. From collaborating on our Garden Walk to beautifying the town gardens, and decorating for the holidays, we are awesome together!
